Lost and Found

The Wayne G. Basler Library makes every effort to return items of value and importance to the library user should they be left in the Library. With identifiable items, the library user is contacted by telephone or email. All Lost and Found property will be held a maximum of one semester. Any items added in the last calendar month of the semester will be held through the following semester. At the end of each semester, the Library staff member or director/designee will dispose of all unclaimed item(s). If appropriate, items disposed of will be reflected in the lost and found log.

This policy coincides with Northeast State Policy 04:72:00 Lost and Found.


  1. When an item(s) is found or turned in to a staff member attach a note to the item stating the time, date, and location where the item was found.
  2. Take the item(s) to the Circulation Desk.
  3. If the item(s) can be traced to an individual, call the patron and notify him/her of the item’s location.
  4. Hold the item(s) at the Circulation Desk for one semester and dispose of all unclaimed item(s)
