The Library is proud to serve not only Northeast State students, faculty, and staff, but also our surrounding community. Whether you're looking for your next great read, conducting personal or professional research, enjoying time with your family in our Children's Reading Room, or simply seeking a quiet place to study or work, we invite you to take advantage of the many resources and services available.
Use this page to learn about the Community Borrower Program, search the library's collections, access research resources while visiting the library, reserve study spaces, and explore our children's collections and reading room. Our librarians and staff are always happy to help you find information, discover new resources, and make the most of your visit.
Community Borrower ProgramÂ
The local community is welcome in the library and encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to use our excellent collection of books and available services. After completing a Community Borrower Registration Form and presenting a valid driver's license, community members, including alumni, can check out five items at a time. This includes books, DVDs, CDs, and more. Books and music CDs check out for 5 weeks while most DVDs check out for 7 days. Most items can be renewed twice, as long as no one else is waiting for them.
Community members who have completed the above form are also eligible to use our Internet connected computers, or connect their own laptops or mobile devices to our wireless network while at the library. Just see one of our staff to get you signed in!
While using our computers, you will also have access to our 100+ online databases to conduct any research you may need to do. Librarians are available to assist you if needed, as well.
Feel free to book a study room if you need a space for a small group (4 or less) to work together, or if you need to be on a Zoom call/meeting. Each room is equipped with a Zoom-capable computer. We recommend you book early as the study rooms do tend to fill up quickly.

Research Guides
The librarians have created guides on subjects and topics, as well as for specific courses and resources, to help you get started with searching and finding sources for papers, projects, and your own research needs. Browse the list of available guides linked below to see what we have. Don't see what you want, send us a suggestion or drop in and let us know and we will see if it is something we can add to our list.
Children's Reading Room and Collection
The children's reading room is located behind the Reference Desk on the third floor. It is a great space to spend time reading or playing with your young ones. In the space, you will find books, soft seating, small tables, and a computer workstation. Books in this room can be checked out as you want. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and you are welcome to close the doors to make a more enclosed area.
The bulk of the children's and youth collection is found across the lobby in room L301. You are welcome to bring any of these books into the children's reading room, as well. We have picture books, chapter books, and young adult books that are all in the fiction category, as well as a group of non-fiction books for the entire age range.
Citation Guides
The Library has created the following guides to assist you in formatting your papers and citing your sources in MLA, APA, Chicago, and Turabian formats. These guides will help you create a works cited or reference page(s) in your paper and show you examples on how to format each entry, as well as how to do your in text citations. The tutorials take you through a brief overview of the citation styles.
