Library Information
The Wayne G. Basler Library, located on the main campus of Northeast State Community College in Blountville, is the heart of the college's library system. We provide welcoming spaces, research assistance, technology, and academic support services to help students, faculty, staff, and community members succeed.
In addition to our main campus library, Northeast State offers library branch services at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE) in Kingsport, the Elizabethton Higher Education Center, and the Northeast State at Gray campus, making library resources and services accessible across our service area.
Whether you're conducting research, studying with classmates, using a computer, or connecting with one of our librarians, we're here to support your learning every step of the way.
Wayne G. Basler Library, Main Campus, Blountville
The Wayne G. Basler Library is located on the beautiful campus of Northeast State Community College in Blountville, Tennessee. In 2002, the current Library was completed with seating for approximately 600 people and a collection size of over 70,000 volumes. The Library supports a growing student body, faculty, and community with research, computer, and audio-visual capabilities to meet the demands of the information age.
The Library has over 70 computers available for student use. Mot of these are available in an open computer lab on the 3rd floor. Black & White and Color printing are available on 3rd floor, while Black & White only is available on 2nd floor. There is also a black & white copier on the 2nd floor.
Five (5) reservable study rooms are available for small groups or individuals wanting a contained, quiet environment, or who need to use a computer for Zoom meetings/classes or for online proctored exams.
The third floor houses the Children's Reading Area and Children's Collection. The Children's Reading Area, located behind the Research and Information Help desk in room L315, is filled with colorful soft furniture designed for children's enjoyment and comfort. Bookcases hold a rotating collection of books for all ages of young people. As children must be accompanied by an adult, built-in desks and electrical and USB outlets are also furnished. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to take advantage of this treasure in the library. The Children's Collection is located just across the lobby in L301. It is easily identifiable by the fun decorations, and it is housed in low shelves, making it easily accessible to even our smallest readers.
The Learning Center [TLC] is located on the first floor in room L103 and offers a computer lab, tutoring, and assistance in preparing for placement tests.
The Writing Center [TWC] is located on the first floor in room L101. Writing center staff will be available during operating hours to help with your essays, research, and more.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), located in Room L204, operates under the auspices of Teaching Excellence and Academic Services, which operates within the division of Institutional Excellence and Student Success. The Northeast State Center for Teaching and Learning cultivates a vibrant teaching and learning culture by providing innovative, high quality, and relevant adjunct and full-time faculty professional development opportunities to facilitate student success.
The Honors Institute is located on the third floor in room L303 and provides a learning community where students and faculty members can interact, innovate, create and conduct scholarly research. The Honors Program is in position to function as an incubator for innovative education.
Our goal is to have a Library that supports every aspect of student learning and that will serve as the cultural, educational, and recreational focal point for the community.

Parking and Keycard Access
All visitors need to stop by the welcome center at the front entrance of the college to get a pass. All buildings on campus, including the library, are now locked 24/7 on keycard access. Visitors are still always welcome in the Library and on the Northeast State Blountville campus. Areas for visitor parking are clearly marked. Visitors who receive citations should return the citation to the Office of Police and Safety. The parking lots are shown on the Campus Map.
Directions to the Library and Parking
Take I-81 South to Exit 63 (the Tri-Cities Airport Exit). Turn left onto Airport Parkway. Proceed about 2.2 miles. Take the exit ramp down to Highway 75. Turn left onto Highway 75 North. The main entrance to the Northeast State main campus is immediately after the Airport on your right. Turn right at the stop sign. Turn left and go through three more stop signs and turn right into the large parking lot. The Library is the three story building with a mostly glass wall facing the parking lot.
Take I-26 South to the I-26/I-81 Interchange. Take I-81 North to Exit 63 (the Tri-Cities Airport Exit). Turn right onto Airport Parkway. Proceed about 2.2 miles. Take the exit ramp down to Highway 75. Turn Left onto Highway 75 North. The main entrance to the Northeast State campus is immediately after the Airport on your right. Turn right and stop at the stop sign. Turn left and go through three more stop signs and turn right into the large parking lot. The main entrance to the Northeast State campus is immediately after the Tri-Cities Airport on your right. Turn right and stop at the stop sign. Turn left and go through three more stop signs and turn right into the large parking lot. The Library is the three story building with a mostly glass wall facing the parking lot.
Northeast State at Kingsport: Center for Higher Education Building (KCHE)
The Learning Resource Center (LRC), located in room 331 on the third floor of KCHE, provides access to reference materials and materials available for checkout from our recently added collection. Reference materials include anatomy models and HESI Exam study guides among other items while the rotating collection contains DVDs in addition to books on art, biographies, biology, birding, cooking, hiking, history, psychology, technology, and traveling along with fiction novels in a variety of genres. The collection rotates items in and out based on student, faculty, and staff recommendations. Not only do we have an open computer lab with 50 computers, but also a dedicated private study room. When a study break becomes necessary, the LRC has a variety of board games available for brain breaks as well as two separate cozy seating areas with a selection of coloring sheets and current magazines. There is a free library located by the book drop just outside of the LRC for your convenience. We strive to keep all materials at high-quality and high-interest levels for our patrons.

Elizabethton
The Learning Resource Center is located in room E100 and is an open computer lab with access to some reference materials and the Library's online resources. It is now home to a new and growing circulating book collection. Students also have access to a large collection of anatomy models for study and learning at the Elizabethton campus.
Gray
The Learning Resource Center is located in room G107 and is an open computer lab with access to the Library's online resources. Students also have access to a large collection of anatomy models for study and learning at the Gray campus.
Giving to the Library
The library accepts donated materials from individuals and organizations. Criteria for adding items to the collection are the same for items that are purchased. The library will not assess the value of donated items. Donations that are most desirable are popular materials that have high demand and items that are not already held by the Library. All donated materials must be clean, odor free, and in good condition. If you would like to donate materials to the Library, please call the Circulation Desk at 423.354.2429.
