Services

Reference

Library Reference Desk - Information and Research Help DeskThe Reference librarians, located at the Information and Reference Desk on the third floor of the Library, strive to provide prompt and courteous service to all library users. If you need help finding books and materials, researching a paper or assignment, citing your sources, using the online databases, or any other type of information, please speak to the Librarian at the desk.

If we can assist you by telephone, please call 423-354-2429.

You can also reach us by email at libmail@northeaststate.libanswers.com or use our Ask-A-Librarian chat/email service.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows you to borrow books or acquire articles that we do not own in our Library.  The time it takes to obtain an interlibrary loan book or article varies. Articles may be received faster than books, usually within the week, while books may take two to three weeks to arrive. Only three items can be requested at one time.

This service is free for students.  Some libraries impose surcharges and photocopying charges for their services, which will be collected from faculty, staff, or community borrowers.

To request books or articles, fill out the appropriate form below and we will contact you when the item(s) arrives.

Reserves

Stack of books

Course Reserves are materials that your instructor has chosen to set aside for use by a class. Usually these materials are textbooks, anatomy models, or supplemental readings such as books or articles. All of the course reserves can be found at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the Library. Checkout time and usage of course reserves are established by your instructor. Most materials can only be used in the library for a specified amount of time - usually one hour - while some can be taken home for a brief period of time.

To see if your instructor has placed items on course reserve you can search the Library Catalog for the title of the item or the instructor's name.
